Short answer: Poire Noire's mugs are fully handmade, hand-painted ceramic mugs, made from glazed clay and handcrafted by our partners here in Lithuania, decorated with bold patterns like cow print, leopard, checks and stripes, and sealed in a glossy glaze. Each costs €50 and is made to order. Because no two come out identical, every mug is a one-off. They're dispatched within up to 14 business days, and we ship worldwide from Lithuania.

Why we started making mugs

We started Poire Noire to put skateboard decks on walls instead of under feet. Mugs felt like the natural next step: they're another everyday object we could turn into something with character. We launched them in October 2026.

How a Poire Noire mug is made

We'd rather show you the process than describe it in adjectives. Here's what happens between your order and your doorstep.

1. Shaping the clay

Each mug is fully handmade, shaped by hand from clay. That's why the silhouettes are slightly organic and the handles are thick and chunky rather than factory-perfect.

2. Painting the pattern by hand

The patterns are fully hand-painted. LEOPARD, for example, is hand-spotted across a cream body, so the spots never land in quite the same place twice. Every one of the 14 designs is hand-painted.

3. Glazing and firing

A glossy glaze goes on last and is fired in a kiln. That's what gives the mugs their shine and seals the design.

4. Checked, packed, shipped from Lithuania

Mugs are made to order, so we keep no shelf of stock. Each one is dispatched within up to 14 business days, wrapped in protective paper and sturdy packaging, and sent with Lietuvos paštas, the best service available to us, with tracking. We pack and ship every mug ourselves from Lithuania.

Why no two mugs look the same

Small differences in size, pattern placement and glaze are what handmade means. They aren't defects. Order two MOO mugs and you'll get two cows, not twins. If you want something that's identical every time, a printed mug is the better buy. If you want the mug someone reaches for first every morning, a handmade one is.

Mug + board pairings: our favourite combos

Every mug was picked to sit next to our decks, so here are the pairings we'd give together. Each set is €200 (diptychs €150) and each mug €50. Discount codes apply to boards only.

Leopard lovers

If you came here looking for leopard, there's a mug and two deck sets. The LEOPARD mug is spotted by hand, so no two spot patterns match. On the wall, SAINT LEOPARD is the calmer, minimal option, and C'EST LA VIE is the louder Y2K one.

Zebra and black-and-white

Our ZEBRA set has a black-and-white zebra print deck next to a surf deck and a minimal black deck. There's no zebra mug (yet), but MOO's cow spots and BLACK SQUARES' checks give you the same monochrome look on the table.

Y2K and pink

For Y2K skateboard wall art, start with AMOR, our collage set in pink tones with leopard and street tags. Pair it with any pink mug.

A gift for skateboarders and art lovers

Buying for a skateboarder or someone who cares about design is hard. They already own the obvious stuff, and they'll notice a generic printed mug. A €50 handmade mug is an easy yes on its own. Mug plus deck set is the "big gift". To build a set of your own, use Mix & Match (€90 per board, €200 for three). Mugs are made to order, so they need more lead time than stock items. To arrive before Christmas, order by:

These are order-by dates for delivery by 23 December, our best estimates rather than a guarantee. We already ship with the best service available to us, so earlier is always safer. Track your parcel: for US, UK and other non-EU orders, import duties and customs clearance are the main cause of delays.

Caring for your mug

Hand wash it with warm water and a soft sponge. Please keep it out of the dishwasher and the microwave: both can damage the glaze and the hand-painted pattern. Avoid sudden temperature shocks too (the product pages say the same).
